Description

As part of Node4’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-performance and reliable networks, we are excited to announce the rollout of our new Core Network. (node4.co.uk/blog/node4-signs-deal-with-virgin-media-business-wholesale-to-upgrade-core-network) This advanced infrastructure will enable us to enhance network capacity, improve reliability, and support your growing connectivity needs. Over Q1, we will carry out a series of planned network maintenance activities as we migrate services from our existing network to the new Core Network. What to Expect During the Maintenance • Traffic Management: During the maintenance periods, we will manually adjust network metrics to redirect traffic away from the specific network segments being worked on. This proactive approach ensures minimal disruption to your services, with traffic rerouted to alternative paths for continuity. • Latency Changes: o You may experience temporary increases in latency while traffic is routed through alternate paths during maintenance. o Additionally, some changes in latency may occur as services are migrated to the new network, which reflects the inherent characteristics of fibre routes and distances between data centres. Individual maintenance notices will be issued with a standard 10-day advance notice, specifying the specific leg involved, we anticipate around 8 maintenance windows will be required within Q1. Were aiming to have the new core network complete by the 31st March. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance your network experience. VDC Self Service - Wakefield

Description

Description: On Saturday the 1st of March 2025 Node4 engineers will be performing scheduled maintenance on the Wakefield VDC Portal (vdc-wkf-01.n4cloud.co.uk) to apply a software release. The site vdc-wkf-01.n4cloud.co.uk will be unavailable during the upgrade however all the underlying customer virtual machines managed through this portal will not be affected. Backup and DR services will be paused within the change window and will resume as normal after the change is complete. Impact At Risk - 10:00 - 16:00 GMT 01/03/2025 Engineers will endeavour to minimize the Wakefield VDC Portal downtime, if you need to access the site during the maintenance window, please contact the Node4 Service Desk who can assist. Planned Maintenance Schedule March 04, 2025 8:00PM - 11:59PM GMT March 04, 2025 8:00PM - 11:59PM UTC Description Maintenance Window: 20:00 to 23:59 (GMT) Background As outlined in our communication titled “Upcoming Network Maintenance for Migration to New Core Network”, As part of our migration to the new core older smaller capacity circuits are being decommissioned and routed via the 200Gb backbone. During the maintenance period, network metrics will be manually adjusted to redirect traffic away from the affected segment. This proactive approach is designed to ensure minimal service disruption by re-routing traffic to alternative paths, maintaining service continuity.
